Where precision meets elegance
The First Measure is more than a ritual. It is a promise. In an age of off-the-rack compromise, The First Measure returns tailoring to its truest form: bespoke, without shortcut or apology.
We are an Australian menswear house with a singular philosophy: the world’s finest fabrics, stitched by Hong Kong’s most exacting hands, finished for you.
The Path of a Suit
Every suit begins with the first measure, taken in person, on Australian soil. We observe how you move, how you stand, how you live. That single tape captures not just numbers, but posture, preference, and personality.
From there, your pattern is cut in Hong Kong — not by machines, but by a small guild of third-generation tailors. Men who learned their craft before computers, who believe a lapel should be coaxed, not cut. Each suit is stitched by hand.
The Fabric
We source only from mills that define tailoring. You choose the fabric. We handle the rest.
Additional selections include: Ferre, Giorgio Valentino.
Italy
Marzotto, Luciano Rossi, Michelangelo, Caesar Romeo, Sergio Benetti
Soft, fluid, and distinctly modern.
England
Savile Row, Huddersfield, Devonshire, Mayfair
Sturdy, architectural, steeped in tradition.
Why Hong Kong, Why Australia
Hong Kong remains one of the last cities where true bespoke is still alive, respected, and accessible. By keeping our stitching there, we preserve an endangered craft — and a price that makes genuine bespoke possible for the Australian professional.
Your fittings, however, happen here. No flights. No waiting for a travelling tailor. We come to you, or you visit our atelier.
Our Commitment
Individual patterns, cut exclusively for you. Not made-to-measure. Not adjusted from a block.
You will know your tailor’s name, your fabric’s origin, and every stitch that connects them.
We are not building a brand. We are rebuilding a standard.
The First Measure is taken. The rest is history.
